Van Cleef & Arpels recently debuted a group of new Perlée designs, the collection featuring the golden bead that is known for its delicate look. Timepieces, pendants, earrings, and rings—all set with precious and ornamental stones, coral, or mother-of-pearl—are decorated with the motif in a fresh and classic manner, fitting for this playful collection that was first launched in 2008. Here, a look at some of our favorite designs.
Here, the bracelet (seen above) harkens back to a design launched in 2017 that feature a cap of diamonds set in yellow gold sitting opposite a cabochon of coral or lapis lazuli. Rows of the Perlée beads make up the body of the bracelet, which mimics the rounded shape of the bangle itself.
Five new rings boasting ornamental stones join the collection, each set with either onyx, malachite, turquoise, lapis lazuli, or coral. Every ring is adorned with two rows of the iconic golden motif, with round diamonds separating the lines of beads. Bold and also classic, these designs feel decidedly modern, while still in step with this timeless collection.
Oval-shaped earrings, made in either yellow gold, rose gold, or white gold, are each set with 74 round diamonds of various sizes in a honeycomb openwork setting that allows the light to parse through. These three-dimensional earrings are a playful, yet creative, addition to the collection.
Five new timepieces also join this collection, with the above watch featuring an articulated golden bead bracelet (it also comes with an interchangeable grosgrain fabric option) and a mother-of-pearl sun ray guilloché dial. The Perlée beads flank the edge of the case, adding a tactile dimensionality to the look.
