The 'Beach Fizz' Proves Mocktails Can Be Just As Complex As Their Boozy Counterparts
Bold, tart, and refreshing—what more can you ask for in a drink?
The Paris Bookseller, Kerri Maher’s biographical novel about 1920’s era Shakespeare and Company and its legendary owner/book publisher Sylvia Beach, brings to new life several iconic figures from the roaring twenties literary scene in Paris, whom Beach counted among her friends. A book populated with historical icons deserves an equally iconic beverage pairing, so we present the Beach Fizz, a bold (both in flavor and appearance) mocktail with a delicious fruit backbone.
When working without spirits, fruit purée can add much-needed body to a drink in place of alcoholic ingredients. The star of the show in this case is strawberry purée, whose rich sweetness is balanced by citrus and club soda. This non-alcoholic cocktail is tart, refreshing, and effervescent–a perfect drink to close the book in winter and usher in spring!
