Why Each Piece in My Jewelry Collection Feels Powerful and Transformative
Each piece of jewelry in Style Director Rachael Burrow's collection tells a unique story.
These editor-approved products were carefully curated and selected for V-List.
A jewelry collection—to whoever harbors one—is special for many reasons. It might be because of the gemstones used, the artisan behind the creation, or the provenance of the piece. And while all of these factors play a role in why a piece of jewelry can feel magical and mysterious, one of the key reasons a piece of jewelry feels special to its keeper is because of the history it holds.
In my experience, even if I'm the first one to own a particular piece of jewelry, there's always a thought in the back of my mind that this ring, bracelet, or necklace will have a life beyond me. Whether it's because I pass it on to a friend or family member or because it finds it way into other hands through another avenue, jewelry carries the stories and spirits of its previous owners forward into its future, imbuing the current holder with a sense of mysticism, and, in some instances, power. Jewelry can make its wearer feel emboldened, brave, nostalgic, ladylike, and alluring. Even more so than fashion, jewelry can instantly make an outfit feel polished, finished, and elegant.
A piece of jewelry's alchemy is what makes it supernatural–like the Mexican silver cuff I picked up at Round Top that passes on its boldness or the antique French coins that are strung on a pearl and leather necklace that my mother gifted me several years ago that feel protective when worn. You take a bit of the past with you into the future—which is what the spirit of the collection is all about.
I'm always looking for new pieces to add to my jewelry collection—here are four special and timeless pieces I'm eyeing.
