The jury is in. The great outdoors is the new American living room, and the five winners of our second annual landscape design competition invite you to come in, look around, and delight in the sublime comfort of our natural environs. From a serene West Hollywood hideaway to a romantic meadow in Connecticut, these gardens collected gleaming accolades from our judges, interior designer Bunny Williams and Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) president Peter Lyden, and lead the way in our march back to nature.
Best House & Garden Repartee
Design by Scott Shrader with Interiors by Erin Martin Design
Cocktail Hour’s Most Coveted
Design by Erica Timbrell Design
“The best gardens have personality, places to eat, places to sit. They make you want to live in them,” says interior designer and author Bunny Williams. “These designs are thoughtful and convey both imagination and restraint.”
The Ultimate Romantic Retreat
Design by Kathryn Herman Design
Best Urban Garden, Unbound
Design by Hoffman and Ospina Landscape Architecture
“We have to work with the natural environment, which is what really unifies these gardens. They each create natural extensions of houses, hillsides, vegetation, and waterfronts,” says Peter Lyden, president of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA). “Their designers worked with materials so organically, and the results are just beautiful.”
Most Inspired Historic Tribute
