Creative. Kind. Grounded. Tauruses, we’re talking about you! As the sun moves into the second sign of the zodiac (governing the calendar roughly from April 20 through May 20), we’re celebrating the stubborn-yet-sensual bulls.

“If your sun is in Taurus, you’re likely a very stable and deeply empathetic person who enjoys the finer things in life,” says Sanctuary astrologer Lauren Ash. The planet Venus rules this earth sign, bestowing the bull with a keen eye for aesthetics.

While we’ve long looked to the stars for a sense of mystical direction, we’re also calling upon our gardens to bring the spirits of our zodiac signs to life through artful floral arrangements. For the Taurus’ floral horoscope (or as we like to call it, floriscope), read on.

“Sensual by nature, Taurus is a sign that aligns most with artistry, creativity, and earthly desires,” says astrologer Lisa Stardust. Various shades of pink speak to ruling Venus, the planet of romance. “Pink is the color that is associated with Taurus because it represents love, kindness, and creativity,” Stardust says. Verdant green calls upon this earth sign’s grounded personality. “Very connected to the earth, many Tauruses are known for their green thumbs,” adds Ash.

Fragrant florals that represent the bull’s penchant for comfort and luxury can include honeysuckle, daisies, magnolia, and lilac. “While a Taurus enjoys a life of luxury, they don’t do it for fame or attention. For a Taurus, life is meant to be enjoyed with a good glass of wine,” says Ash.

The primary floral representative of a Taurus are roses, which are the flower of Venus. “Roses represent love and sensuality, which is why they align with the bull,” says Stardust. Together, these fragrant flowers create a heady arrangement that's perfect for sensual Taurus.

The rich green plantings in the arrangement allude to Taurus’ earthly nature. “Don’t be afraid to add greenery to a Taurus’ bouquet of flowers. They prefer red, pink, or white roses—just not all mixed together. If you choose white flowers, then add a little more greenery around the edges to satisfy their earthly desires,” Stardust suggests.

Inspired by Tauruses’ creativity and passionate traits, Birmingham-based florist Mark Thompson twirled up an ethereal, romantic arrangement representative of this zodiac sign’s core characteristics. Using a pedestal vase allows for dainty boughs of greenery to trail gracefully over the edges. Thompson says a container of this shape makes a strong base for holding flowers (much like how Taurus is known for being strong and steady!).

To start, he placed a chicken wire form inside the vase and filled it with water. Next, he added greenery—jasmine and winter honeysuckle—to create the arrangement’s general shape. Thompson then built the bouquet with stems of dark pink and pale pink garden roses, lime green hellebores, pink ranunculus, coral godetias, pink spider lilies, and white fleabane daisies. He filled holes with additional pieces of greenery.
