Tamara Comolli, the fine jewelry purveyor known for its joyful and easy spirit, celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2022 as a brand with two new collections, out today. The design for these new collections was driven by two distinct color groupings of gemstones that were selected for the most iconic designs from the Mikado collection.

"Both of our new color stories take women on a journey to places they yearn to be. ‘Ocean’ is a tribute to our inspiration and our roots. Ever since founding the brand, the water drop has been the hallmark," says Nora von Linsingen, Head of Gemology of Tamara Comolli. "The blue hues of topaz remind you of the endless expense of the sea, the white moonstones represent the spray almost as white as clouds, and the sparkling diamond pavé is the gently glittering sunlight on the surface of the water."

von Linsingen, who has been with the brand for 15 years, makes careful considerations when selecting gemstones for new creations during the design process, especially as the brand's leanings are so color-centered. Ensuring that the color and quality of each stone allows them to exist in harmony in a single necklace, bracelet, or pair of earrings is paramount to the final design.

"‘Blush’ plays with gemstones such as morganite, rose quartz, pink tourmaline, and white and sand-colored moonstones paired with 18-karat rose gold," continues von Linsingen. "This color symphony is a homage to the beauty of women, to femininity, and touches us with tender romance. Moonstones in their different shades reflect the elegance of the design. Pink tourmalines and morganites belong to our favorite gemstones which captivate with their stunning appearance."

Paraiba tourmalines, which were first discovered in Brazil in 1989 and later Mozambique, are some of the most coveted gemstones in the world and are extremely hard to find in weights of over one carat. They have an amazing range of colors, from electric blue to aqua green, which is why the brand was so intent on having these desired stones as the adornment for the limited edition Mikado Delicate necklace.

How else will the brand be celebrating this milestone moment throughout the year? In addition to opening a boutique in Naples, Florida, more one-of-a-kind creations are on the horizon.

"We are currently creating a one-of-a-kind Mikado Flamenco bracelet, our iconic masterpiece of craftsmanship, with the large Mikado Bouquet acorns featuring rare tanzanite, hot pink tourmalines, apple-green peridots, and many more colorful gems reflecting our heritage and passion," says von Linsingen.

"Sourcing these stones often takes a lot of time since I am only selecting gemstones with the most intense and beautiful colors. Honoring our love for tourmalines–according to a legend these gemstones owe their color variety to touching a rainbow–we have found unique mint-colored tourmalines with a stunning brilliance that we will showcase in our Cushion and Lily ring collectible design. I don’t want to reveal too much yet, but you know Tamara Comolli and we love colors. Stay tuned for color sensations!"
