The crisp hint of fall in those cool, late-summer mornings signals that it's time to embrace cozy decorating schemes and begin anticipating the advent (and, okay, madness) of the holiday season. This year, we're going all out with our Thanksgiving tables, from the bountiful spread and festive cocktails to the design scheme and Thanksgiving centerpieces to create holiday memories for years to come.

Whether you're using the long weekend to take a holiday getaway or are hosting your family in the backyard, an elegant Thanksgiving centerpiece will tie your table together seamlessly. Something as humble as a centerpiece made with goods from the garden and your local farmers market can turn a simple setting into something spectacular that will spark memories for a lifetime. However, you're also allowed to stray from tradition to create a colorful, chic holiday table that best reflects you and your family. Here, we have several Thanksgiving centerpiece ideas to ensure your next holiday feast is a stunner beyond the turkey.

All About Seasonal Colors and Textures

"For Thanksgiving centerpieces, I usually keep things quite organic with low-lying warm colors and in-season foraging if you're in a place where the leaves are still turning," says photographer, tastemaker, and shop owner Lucy Cuneo. "It's always striking to use a mix of green, gold, and red leaves on a table."

Here, Cuneo pairs seasonal flora with warm, autumnal shades of red to create a Thanksgiving centerpiece that invites everyone to gather. She loves to mix an assortment of candle votives down the table to add ambiance without blocking views of family and friends.

Haute for the Holidays

Jamie Beck

Author and photographer Jamie Beck spends the holidays in Provence with her neighbors John and Camy, and she says Camy is a tablescape maven.

"I love how she gets festive with the tablescape by using a classic crimson red linen tablecloth made by a local woman in our village," says Beck. "I find there is something very touching, especially during the holidays, to use something handmade from our own communities."

A gorgeous potted orchid surrounded by tapered candles creates a simple yet elegant tablescape that's topped off with funky, vintage French majolica plates and countryside brocantes. A swoon-worthy mantel decoration and a warm glow set an idyllic scene that will help you family transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas with ease.

"Thanksgiving always falls during the most perfect weather and peak of fall color here in Nashville," says designer Roger Higgins. "Those colors—and the foliage itself—are incorporated into our centerpieces at that time of year so that the table feels seasonably appropriate and not too sweet."

Higgins likes to keep things casual and comfortable for the holidays. He creates Thanksgiving centerpieces that feel welcoming and warm with a mixture of fall textures, natural colors, and woven materials for a well-collected table.

"I often shop the farmer’s market on Saturday mornings, and I fell in love with the Indian corn and the dried husks, so I decided to do the pumpkins, gourds and corn scattered down the table," says designer Gray Walker. "The daisies and wildflowers felt right coming out of the top of hollowed out pumpkin. I love the natural decoration with my china, crystal and silver. It’s warm and inviting with a dose of the good stuff."

Dried Florals

Dried florals are no longer the outdated displays at Grandma's house. They are trending in a decidedly modern fashion, as seen in this Bloomist display. Forget the real flowers that will last just couple days; dried florals will make it through the season and have a beautiful muted fall palette. (Styled by Ayesha Patel.)

Mixing Materials

Dustin Peck

Not only is there a beautiful mix of seasonal fruits and vegetables in this centerpiece by Keith Meacham of Reed Smythe, there's also a great combination of materials, from real pumpkins to gilded ones. Scattered cranberries are a nice touch that adds color and personality to the table.

"I’d love to say there was lots of inspiration for this table, but it was mostly inspired by necessity," says Meacham. "I was late getting a plan together and was cooking the whole Thanksgiving meal myself, so I turned to what was on hand in the garden and in the produce aisle: dark green magnolia leaves with velvet brown undersides, some crazy bittersweet vine, fresh red cranberries, pomegranates, pears, pumpkins, and apples. I mixed them with silver pieces I pull out every Thanksgiving: my treasured Sterling Wishbone, a gift from my friend Julia which we sell at Reed Smythe, silver pumpkins and corn from Creel & Gow, silver candlesticks and SilverClam Shell Salt Dish, some antique and others from Reed Smythe. Together with my Spode china, monogrammed French linens from the French flea markets, and tortoiseshell glasses, it all sort of worked with minimum fuss."
