Ready, set, swoon! Interior designer and recent VERANDA cover star Cece Barfield Thompson has just launched a fabulous new tableware line just in time for the country's return to hosting. The Virginia collection launched earlier this month and features linens embroidered in Manhattan's Garment District, placemats made from Belgian linen, Limoges porcelain plates that were hand-painted in Paris, and silver-plate cups crafted by hand in Istanbul, all of which make for heirloom-worthy additions to your party closet.

Like many of us, Thompson found creative inspiration from her immediate surroundings in quarantine this past year, and the Virginia collection is aptly named after her personal quarantine destination at her husband's family home in Hot Springs, Virginia, a charming, lush village in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The designer says she fell in love with her mother-in-law's spectacular collection of antique linens that have been in the family for generations and wanted to create pieces that could spark a new family collecting tradition for design enthusiasts everywhere.

“Not only were these linens beautiful, but they also have a history afforded to them by their quality," says Thompson. "I love the idea of creating future heirloom pieces using the finest material. Not only is it romantic to think of future generations entertaining with the Virginia collection, but it’s also sustainable.”

"I plan to bring a set of white Heirloom and slate-blue Perennial with us to Virginia because they easily mix with a variety of china patterns and colors," says the designer. "Twelve place settings of the Veranda china will also be making the trip. I can't wait to set the table with flowers freshly cut from the garden!" She says her family plans to dine outside and entertain as much as possible this summer, so Ceylon silver cups and Veranda cocktail napkins will be mainstays of many a cocktail party.

"The silver cups are truly perfect for outdoor entertaining because they are shatterproof— chic and practical," Thompson says.

This collection is centered around craft and quality so that these pieces can gracefully withstand countless years of celebrations from one generation to the next. The collection is available to shop exclusively through Moda Operandi for a year and Cece Barfield Inc. online now and will serve to inspire many a garden party, Sunday brunch, and cozy dinner party for decades to come.
