Just a short walk from the Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Elysées, Le Dokhan's, Paris Arc de Triomphe, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel is a Paris institution, right down to its iconic champagne bar that features the city's largest selection of champagnes, along with caviar and foie gras, among other decadent bites. But of course the interiors inside the 1910 Belle Epoque building, designed by decorator Frederic Mechiche, are just as delectiable. Don't miss the Louis Vuitton-paneled elevator, a detail that has inspired American designer Penny Drue Baird in her own projects.

Hotel Lutetia

This Saint-Germain-des-Pres landmark, first opened in 1910, remains an "it" spot for the Paris intellegentsia today as it did during the 20th century, when it was a refuge for writers (James Joyce is said to have written Ullyses there), artists (Picasso and Matisse took up residence there), and entertainers—the hotel's iconic Bar Joespehine is named for Josephine Baker, who was a hotel regular and became the first Black woman to be inducted into France's Pantheon. Today, Hotel Lutetia adds Akasha, a holistic wellbeing spa, to its offerings, further cementing its status as the palace hotel of the Rive Gauche.
