The holidays are just around the corner, and it's time to start breaking out the ornaments and stockings from storage to scheme up plans to decorate our homes for Christmas. While living rooms and dining tables may be the first spaces we think of in terms of holiday decorating, the front porch is equally as important, as it sets the tone for party guests, family members, and dearest friends arriving for your festive fêtes. Whether you live in an apartment building or on a sprawling estate, it's important to thoughtfully decorate your home's entrance to spread holiday cheer to passersby and exude the festivity happening on the inside.

We've sourced Christmas porch decorating ideas from the people who know best: designers and tastemakers. Their ideas are elegant and elevated, yet simple and accessible to help spruce up our own front porches with ease this holiday season. Between the gifting, party planning, and feast preparations, this spot on your to-do list will now become one of the easiest tasks to check off this Christmas! Here are designers' favorite Christmas porch decoration ideas for 2022.

“One can’t have enough greenery for the holidays," says designer Young Huh. "We recently moved into an 1820s home and, before we started renovations, decided to gather there for the holidays. We went really big with draped garlands, potted juniper trees, and wreaths with earthy-colored bows.

Huh says that she brought this organically festive feel into her interior decorating scheme as well for a nice flow that would make all her family and friends feel welcome. We love how the cheery yellow door color pairs with the greenery for a nontraditional holiday look.

His Washington, D.C. townhouse looks rendezvous-ready without screaming "Christmastime," thanks to minimalist-yet-thoughtful decoration. Wreaths hung over the upstairs windows and on the front door feel festive without taking away from the architectural grandeur of the home, while a bright sculpture created by the designer brings in a pop of holiday red in the chicest of ways.
