8 Heirloom-Worthy Finds We're Eyeing from Field + Supply
These handmade treasures are simply too good to pass up.
Nestled along a bend of the Hudson River in Kingston, NY, Field + Supply has become the ultimate pilgrimage for art and craft lovers each fall and spring. This past Memorial Day weekend the air was fresh, skies were clear, and the atmosphere upstate was buzzing with thoughtful design. Started in 2014 by Brad Ford with only 20 artisans, Field + Supply has grown to over 200 participants, and it has become the holy grail for one-of-a-kind finds from textiles and clothing to furniture and antiques.
What makes this artisan fair so special is that it's not just a market for unique finds, but it also plays the part of creating a whole experience. The Hudson Valley provides an appealing backdrop, making it an ideal destination for shopping, relaxation and weekend trips.
Additionally, each maker creates striking handcrafted objects that are meant to last generations. One can find a custom pair of boots, a jacket made lovingly on a handloom, or a table made of wood found on the craftsperson's property. The popularity of the show, and the current waitlist for artisans to get in, only shows how much we are craving beautifully handmade yet functional items in our everyday life.
Field + Supply's support of the surrounding area is also seen through their partnership with Upstate Curious in an effort to help raise $1 million for American Farmland Trust’s New York Farmland Access Fund by 2028. The goal of the project is to acquire up to one thousand acres so that farmland can be given to underserved farmers including veterans, women, LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities at reduced market value.
If you missed this weekend, not to worry: Field + Supply will be coming back around again in October just in time to catch the famous Upstate New York fall color. In the meantime, here were some of our favorite finds you can find online, though we highly recommend taking the journey next fall.
